Am găsit o soluţie plastică şi tehnică pentru transformarea trunchiurilor în artefacte. Păstrând scara umană alegem din trunchi acea secţiune transversală care cuprinde cea mai mare suprafaţă lemnoasă, buştean şi ramificaţii, un decupaj din inima pomului. Lemnul dezvăluie o mare frumuseţe: textură şi cromatică. Este şlefuit perfect şi lăsat natur. Zona de scoartă rămasă este curăţată şi coaja este înlocuită cu plăcuţe de alamă. Acum începe drumul de la 1 la … 412. Cu sprijinul familiei Valasutean, Cristina şi Septimiu, începem în paralel aducerea trunchiurilor din depozit la atelier şi prelucrarea lor. În câteva luni se adună: multe sute de kilometrii între Berceni şi Piscu, mulţi decibeli de gater, mii de plăcuţe şi cuie ciocănite. Câţiva tărani din Piscu au învăţat tehnologia. Cu răbdarea şi dichisul unor foşti olari migălesc zile şi săptămâni. La începutul lui ianuarie 2010, depozitul fusese golit. În atelierul de la Piscu aveam 30 de trunchiuri artefact, primul batalion gata să pornească lupta cea tăcută. (foto)
September 2009, Piscu Village
We found the answers – the artistic as well as the technical one – for reshaping the trunks into artefacts. With human scale in mind we chose that part of trunks’ lengthwise section that contains the largest wooden surface, trunk and branches included: a cut in the very heart of the tree. The wood is displayed in its raw beauty: texture and colour. The surface is polished up to perfection, with its natural colour unaltered. The bark is removed and the resulted surface coated with small plates of brass. This is when the trajectory from 1 to …412 starts. Vaslutean family Cristina and Septimiu, help us to synchronize the transport of the trunks from the Berceni depot to the Piscu workshop with the manufacturing. During several months things are piling up: hundreds of kilometres between Berceni and Piscu villages, the decibels of the buzz saw, thousands of hammered plates and clues. A few peasants from Piscu learned the procedure. With patience and diligence of hereditary potters, they laboured for days and weeks. First days of January 2010: the depot is empty.
