În anul 2006 am fost martori la tăierea unei mari livezi de cireşi, în marginea Bucureştiului. Nemaiputând face atunci nimic pentru pomii vii, am recuperat trunchiurile rămase, cu gândul de a le integra unui gest artistic – manifest. Acum 200 de ani trei sferturi din pământurile României erau împădurite. In 1990 mai rămăsese doar o treime. În ultimii 20 de ani a fost distrusă cam a zecea parte din arbori. În Bucureşti, 1 milion de pomi au fost tăiaţi in ultimele două decenii. România trebuie să refacă masivele sale verzi. Legislaţia în vigoare: Art 6, Hot.10 din 25/01/2001: Pentru fiecare pom tăiat în oraş se plantează alţi 4.

Vom reuşi noi să plantăm cei 1648 de pomi? Ne dorim realizarea a câtorva expoziţii manifest în spaţii cheie, cu vizibilitate maximă. Sperăm să trezim astfel conştiinţa publică şi să stimulăm polemic instituţiile de răspundere în direcţia creşterii numărului de arbori în oraş şi a împăduririlor în general. (video)

In year 2006 we witnessed a large cherry orchard being destroyed on the outskirts of Bucharest. Unable to save the living trees, we collected the abandoned trunks thinking to integrate them into an art manifesto. Two hundred years ago, three quarters of the surface area of Romania was forested. By 1990, only a third remained. In the last twenty years, a tenth of Romania’s remaining forests have been destroyed. In Bucharest, one million trees have been cut down in recent decades. The legislation in vigour (Article 6, Govt. Decision 10/25-01-2001) stipulates that for each tree cut down in an urban zone another four shall be planted.

Will we manage to plant the 1,648 trees? We intend to create a number of exhibition events at key points of maximum visibility around the city. We thereby hope to awaken public awareness and to give a polemical incentive to the public institutions responsible for increasing the number of trees in the urban space and forestation in general.
